Unless you are playing a championship course, practicing a course isn't really necessary. Especially for Rec/Intermediate players like us, Mike. Some of the best rounds I have shot have been on courses I've played blind. My first round above 900 was at Hobson Grove, blind. I was in 2nd last year in CVO after my first round at Vettiner (I had played the course one time, like 3 weeks after I'd started playing. Didn't remember anything about it.) I shot a 944 at Goat Path in December playing it blind.
Just go play the tournament and don't take yourself too seriously. Go have fun!
