2012 Lexmark Championship C-tier (Sat 8/25 in Lexington)

Well to help level the playing field an open practice Sat & Sun the weekend before the tourny would be great. Also could have a Friday evening day before tourny practice.

Don't know if you want to keep non tourny players out by say a must be pre registered or register on site to get in to practice.

Unless you are playing a championship course, practicing a course isn't really necessary. Especially for Rec/Intermediate players like us, Mike. Some of the best rounds I have shot have been on courses I've played blind. My first round above 900 was at Hobson Grove, blind. I was in 2nd last year in CVO after my first round at Vettiner (I had played the course one time, like 3 weeks after I'd started playing. Didn't remember anything about it.) I shot a 944 at Goat Path in December playing it blind.

Just go play the tournament and don't take yourself too seriously. Go have fun!

I just hate asking other players on my card where the basket & hazards are on ever hole. If need be i will play blind. If indeed it opens up for practice i'm there. Got some family / friends up there to crash with for the weekend & day before tourny so no long ride & get out of the car cold play

Even if you can't play it beforehand there's usually time to walk a course and at least have some knowledge of where you're shooting. You can even take a little notepad and leave yourself notes about what landmarks to aim for on blind holes.

This year's official practice schedule for the Lexmark Championship...

• Saturday, August 18: 12-4pm
• Thursday, August 23: 5-7pm
• Friday, August 24: 5-7pm

By "official", I mean that someone that works at Lexmark will be on the course to escort you. The "official" policy is that non-Lexmarkers must be escorted. It's so "official". If you know someone at Lexmark and you setup another time to play with them, have at it. Without an escort, you risk having a security guard point you to the nearest exit.

The course has been modified (slightly)... and it's now in the configuration that will be used for the tournament.

• Hole 4 is almost the same with some tweaking to the tee and basket placements. Overshooting could result in OB now.
• Hole 5 is now old hole 6 with the addition of a new blue tee. Just cross the road after hole 4. A nice sign will be in place by the tournament to explain this helpful bit of info. It still has a drop zone.
• Hole 6 is roughly the reverse of old hole 5 but longer and forearmer friendly from the blue tee. No more walking across the softball field to get to hole 7. It still has a drop zone.
• Hole 16 has just one tee position now for red and blue.

I'll be updating the map soon. All of the rubber mats (blue tees, red tees, drop zones) are in place, too.
