Alas, I will not be able to participate in this tradition as I go to noon mass with my family each Christmas Eve.

I always thought it was midnight mass for CHRISTMAS.

What we go to isn't technically a Christmas mass, but we, along with many others that show up to it, consider it one. It's technically the final mass of the advent season.
