    Default Bleed Some Ultimate

    Ultimate season is coming

You like throwing those discs - well about throwing them to moving targets, while someone is in your face trying to stop you!

Spring Leagues will be beginning in another month or so - game or two a week, great excercise and tossing an ultimate disc will really help you learn that arm speed

So how do you score? Is it like football with a endzone?

thanks captain and yeah jeremy a good "how to"

ultimate is played 7 on 7 (thats the official way, numbers can go up or down)

kinda a combo of soccer and football with a disc

end zones on either end of the field, and sidelines running up and down the sides for OB

two teams line up on either ends of the field and one team throws off (kickoff) to the other team -

the team with the disc is now on offense, they throw the disc from one to another and move it down the field until it is caught in the opponents endzone
-when the disc is caught, the player with the disc must establish a pivot foot and cannot run again until they have thrown the disc
-if the disc is not caught (hits the ground) or is intercepted by the defense it is considered a turnover, the direction of play switches defense becomes offense, offense becomes defense
-there is supposed to be no contact, no tackling, clobbering the guy with the disc - any contact is a foul, stops play and such - intense play usually opens the possibility of incidental contact
-upon a score, the losers (defense) walks to the other side of the field to receive the pull (kickoff)
-games tend to run to 13 pts or so

so like i said above simliar to football in the field style and endzone scoring, like soccer in that there is continuous play, compared to the downs system in football

-and for those curious utlimate folks are picky about what they play the game with and its one single disc - Discraft Ultrastar 175grams

It looks like a lot of fun. There were some really nice catches out there.
