size: 58 in 2011, 70? in 2012
course: private, 18 holes, mix of lightly to moderately wooded, lots of elevation change, lots of OB
red tees: women and novice men, 4700'+ total length, great 12' rubber pads on every tee
blue tees: all men except for novice, 5800'+ total length, great 12' rubber pads on every tee
Thinking about hitting this up as long as i can get some practice in. waiting on practice schedule to be posted.
I don't believe you're allowed to play there unless your an employee or during the tournament. It levels the playing field as most people are playing the course blind or haven't played it for at least a year, so that can be a good thing. I understand many people like to play the course beforehand to prepare for it, but IMO it cuts down on on the local advantage.
I haven't played the course before, I hope I can make the tournament this year.
On their tournament website it says that they will open up for practice & that the schedule with me posted up at the beginning of August.

Advanced Men (required for 935+ rating)

So i take it is if your current rating is above a set rating you must enter in the next highest division?
For non PDGA members this works in their advantage since they don't have a rating & can enter what every division they want & or sandbag.

That goes for any tournament really,though; not just this one.

Adam: The policy at Lexmark (my employer) is that you have to work on the campus or be escorted by someone who does. It's not a course/park specific thing... it goes for all of the property. So, we comply with the policy by holding practice sessions where one of us plays with our "guests". Last year, about 1/3 of the field played it blind... others being those that practiced, played in previous years, or work at Lexmark.
All: What kind of practice schedule would you prefer? Does the previous Saturday sound good (since you're out-of-towners)? Lots showed up for sessions that were the week-of last year but they all lived within ~30 minutes.
Course is pretty self explanatory. Just show up early to check it out.
I second Billy there. Played it last year. Everyone bucket save for one on the front nine is visible. The back nine is pretty fun with a bit more challenge.
Yeah, the front is pretty straightforward. A few of the front holes shoot through/between trees, so it takes just a bit of forethought. Other than that, as long as you can visualize lines, you'll be fine. I haven't played the back, so I can't say anything about it.
Well to help level the playing field an open practice Sat & Sun the weekend before the tourny would be great. Also could have a Friday evening day before tourny practice.
Don't know if you want to keep non tourny players out by say a must be pre registered or register on site to get in to practice.
