Whats with all the pink spots painted around IQ?
It has to do with the redesigning they are doing to the course. I heard that things were going to start on this very soon
IQ is going to be redesigned very soon. MSD and the EPA has a plan to restore some wetlands and improve drainage in the park and the parking lot will be expanded. Work will probably start in Sep. and will be completed in about 2-3mos. I have the plans and can display them at the next meeting or at the NABC CV Open. The plan is that the Allstars Club will "adopt" IQ while the LDGC "adopts" CV. I will have the opportunity to have some input on the IQ design, and I expect that members of both clubs will work together on work days at both courses. It is important for both clubs to work together for the overall good of the sport. As you can tell, we have been concentrating our recent efforts on CV and the Fun Farm, getting ready for the tournament. I am going to try this weekend sometime to trim grass around the ditches and other areas on the course to dress it up a little. How do you like the benches on the holes at CV? Thank the scouts for their hard work, we have more projects in mind so stay tuned.
So, is it going to still be rec friendly or hard like CV where its not rec friendly at all :-(
i heard it was going to be very easy, in keeping with the spirit of iroquois
I have seen the markings on the ground, too, but I have been wondering how the whole course is going to end up. Does anyone have a "blueprint" (for lack of ability to come up with a better word) that can show us what the new course is going to look like in comparison to how it looks now?
I can tell you from walking most of what is marked that it is pretty much a 100% change. All of the holes on the hill in the back are going sideways instead of up and down. From what i can tell most of the temp holes used during the All Stars tournament are there. Looks like it is going to be a tad bit harder to get your 2's but you can still get them. Your just gonna have to learn new shots, and there is nothing wrong with that. It will only make you a better player!
I wonder how the changes at the course will affect the GLO tournament Oct. 3rd and the Great Pumpkin Bowl Oct. 24th. I believe both tournaments are scheduled to be held at Iroquois.
I was just talking to John Allgeier earlier today and he made it sound like it's still gonna take some time before they can get a course layout that Metro Parks can agree with. Apparently the parks department has one idea in which lots of holes cross each other and they have like 5 holes going back and forth sideways across the hill where 6, 7, 10, and 12 are. Apparently the Allstars have a better idea that they have to get approved before they can get moving. John said he'd keep us updated here on the boards about when they need help to start rebuilding the course and everything.
