I was in Eddie's store the other day and didn't think to ask him if/when the Brandenburg Open is going to be this year. Anyone know?

They usually announce it the thursday before the tourney... j/k! I think they normally announce it a few weeks in advance. Just keep an ear out here and something will be said.

The Brandenburg Open is on the schedule for Saturday, July 14th.

Did you double check this to make sure it was the same weekend as the car show?

That is also the start of worlds.

I didn't make the date, I'm just reporting what is on the schedule from the KY state coordinator.

If you don't play in this tournament you're foolish----Eddie puts on a hell of a show!

Wait... so the Kentucky USDGC Qualifier coincides with the start of the PDGA World Championships, which has a quite sizable showing from Kentucky going?

That's unfortunate.

Is it that big of a deal that they're on the same day? Are there enough people who go to worlds that there's a reason to schedule around it?

I think I counted 19 KY residents going to Worlds. Notables: Billy S, Dutch, Daniel Allgeier, Steve Simpson, Scott Rief

i dont think its being pointed out that two tournaments are on the same day...I think it is that the prize at Meade-Olin is the KY USDGC spot...and a number of KY players traveling to worlds wont be able to contend for it

i didnt even realize that the spot was being given out at this event - but as i type this I do remember Jeremy mentioning it as the beginning of the year

Glad to know I'm not notable, Job. It really takes the pressure to do well off my back.

Martin, you are exactly correct, unlike Job who claims I'm not a threat.

Justin, I can't even convince you to play MA1 at the Evansville Open. Why would I consider you a threat for the KY USDGC spot? ;)

If I'm correct, its based on playing better than your rating correct? If that is the case, I have recently been shooting well above my rating. It is currently 913 and I've been shooting between 930-950 rated rounds recently. I have reasons for not playing advanced at the EVO which you know of through facebook.

I had forgotten about the performance edition when I posted earlier. Now everyone is relevant.

Justin, I qualified last year by averaging 30+ points above my rating for four rounds though all of those points came at Holler. That's about how well you have to consistently play.

ATTENTION EVERYONE: Hate to break it to everyone but I will not be attending this event this year.

I qualified last year by playing 3 rounds at CV and playing 67 points above my rating and Robby qualified with 52 above his rating.

I talked to Jeremy today and it sounds like he's gonna change the date so it doesn't overlap with Worlds.

Wyatt made a good point about the car show. They should make sure it's not the same weekend. We couldn't play a couple of the holes one year (#1 and I think maybe #14 had cars parked on them. There were, as usual, temp holes so it was still about a 20l-hole course, but it was a bit of a pain.)

No I was hoping they'd be at the same time for the maximum amount of confusion and chaos. Since I won't be there its way easier to laugh about it.

Usdgc spot info
http://www.usdgc.com/02/13/2012-state-rep-spot-details

Important to keep in mind a player needs to be 875 rated or higher with 12 pdga rated rounds completed

Brennen Doyle called me and wanted me to make a post for him on the subject. He says he's never had any luck logging on the site and thinks he may be banned. He wanted to voice his displeasure (putting it mildly) that we would change this qualifier this year, but would not change it last year when it also fell on the same date as the regional USDGC qualifier in Milwaukee, when he was wanting to play both events. His two cents worth.

Bub, I understand his position. I didn't notice it last year until after the fact that the SOKY and Milwaukee Open (our regional qualifier for those who did not know) were on the same weekend nor did I know where this decision came from on scheduling. But seeing as our state coordinator doesn't frequent the forum here to stay in the loop it may be somewhat fruitless to voice too much complaining.

We didn't have a date in stone yet for the B-burg Open. Now we do.

August 18th.

God, I don't want to miss this but it's going to be tough with Buffalo Trace the week before and my fantasy football draft in Indy the week after. Better start applying Chapstik now so I can start the buttkissing with my wife.
