Pro/Advanced Only? Is this because its a qualifier or is there another reason?
I have alway enjoyed the Lou Classic, not sure if I can compete with the advanced devision though.

01-17-2012, 12:12 PM
Sorry buddy. I did make the entry fees lower this year. There will also be
a players pack. Hopefully less divisions will create a larger pay out.
And yes since this is a Vibram Qualifier I want to send the best two people we can.
All persons playing this tournament will be able to qualify if they wish.

01-17-2012, 12:18 PM
Thanks for the reply, If I am at the top of my game by then I may try to play. I don't particulary care if i come in last or not, its all about the fun and competition to me. We'll see.

01-17-2012, 12:43 PM
So you are still offering multiple pro divisions but ony one AM? If this is all for bigger payout just have pro and am. You can combine 4 am divisions but not open and masters?

01-17-2012, 01:05 PM
Hey Sammy, you've got it saying "sign up day of will be from 7:30-8:00" then "no day of sign ups". Shouldn't it say, registration/check-in instead? My other question is do I have to play in the Open division to be eligible for the Vibram spot or could I do it from Advanced since we're all playing the same layout? Also, I'm planning on being there. I'll pay next time I'm see ya.

captain plastic
01-17-2012, 01:34 PM
Thanks Wyatt. Typo is fixed.

All players that play are eligible for the Vibram Open spots. (two of them)
The cost is $10. That fee can be paid morning of. So to answer that more directly
all Pro and Advanced divisions are vying for the spot.

There are going to be a lot of questions about why no other divisions. I don't really have
that great of an answer. Locally we have lots of tournaments. Some sanctioned, some not.
This is just another tournament style for our local community. The prices to play have been lowered.
There are Advanced masters, Advanced Grandmaster, Advanced Women, Advanced Masters Women, Etc.
There are just as many pro divisions as Advanced.

I feel like the divisions will be larger. A greater pool of people to compete against. Not all will be winners.

I will be taking registrations at the club meeting this Friday. You can pay Martin if you see him.
Thanks and see you on the course.

01-17-2012, 03:08 PM
Great idea Sammy. It's refreshing to try something new and innovative isn't it? Some will say it will work better, some will say it won't work at all. I say you don't know until try. I have something like this in my head right now, so I hope it does work so that I know if my idea will work! Remember, Vibram has already contacted me about the event so if you want to contact me, the door is open. But I don't look for events to sponsor, the events must contact me. Just sayin.

01-17-2012, 10:18 PM
I love the fact that you are limiting divisions. There is no need for 3-4 unprotected amateur divisions. I hope to see more events like this where fewer divisions are offered. I'd have no problem with events having an Advanced Amateur division and a Novice division (intended for true novice players who have limited tournament experience. Wouldn't it be nice to not have baggers anymore? We would just have players that are better than us, which I am fine with.

That being said, I will continue to play the division I feel I can be most competitive. I mean, I'm a Capitalist.

01-17-2012, 11:11 PM
Cool idea.

I'll be signing up.

01-18-2012, 07:12 PM
i like the course, i may do it just for a good excuse to get some more time out there before the CVO and US Masters...

01-18-2012, 07:26 PM
sammy put me down 44973 i will get you the money asap

01-19-2012, 05:26 PM
It's all good now.

captain plastic
02-16-2012, 12:45 PM
Made a small update to the list.

Ordered the players packs. All ams will get one Vibram disc.
First come first serve so come early and get checked in.

Derby City Disc is going to handle the am payout. Vouchers will be given to winners.
You can then choose disc then or go to DCD anytime and pick out your prizes.
Rumor is he may have some Innova Blizzard disc available for prizes.
Thanks for doing this Damon!

You can also register at Derby City Disc and avoid any online fees from the PDGA. You can
also pay with cash right at the shop. Damon does charge a small Visa/Mastercard fee for using
credit but the fee is waived if you make a purchase at the same time.

02-16-2012, 02:18 PM
I wonder if the Sherman Minton will be opened before this event?

I saw on the news the other day that the bridge could be open a week before the March 1 target date. I hope they're right.

Either way it should be open before this event.

02-16-2012, 06:01 PM
Hey Sammy, I'll just pay you on Saturday if that's cool. Won't be in Louisville for a few more weeks.

captain plastic
02-16-2012, 07:31 PM
No problem Wyatt.
I can take registrations at the Lexington Ice Bowl if anyone
would like to register.

02-16-2012, 07:50 PM
Samuel Shaheen the Third, I am in, sign me up. Shall be a great one, everyone else, sign up!

02-19-2012, 07:51 PM
How long does it take for a registration to show up on the PDGA site? I registered on Thursday for Advanced Grandmaster.

captain plastic
02-20-2012, 08:03 AM
For some reasons emails have been taking almost a week to come in.
In years past it was the next day. I noticed that on the first few batches.

I have been updating the list every three or four days. I have a couple to add
today but I don't see a James. It's Scotty B and another advanced player.

02-20-2012, 09:03 AM
That's weird. I registered on the PDGA site.

Qty: 1, Item: TLC-0312: The Louisville Classic III, Total: $41.50

02-20-2012, 09:04 AM
BTW, I made scorecards for the Charlie Vettiner Open last year, you can probably still see them on that thread. What's the layout for this year and I can make another batch.

captain plastic
02-20-2012, 10:15 AM
I got your entry. Sorry I did have this the other day.
It took about three days to receive. You were the other
advanced person I was talking about besides Scott B.
I updated the list.

I may take you up on the scorecards. We are playing the original 18
from the longs both rounds.

Take care

02-20-2012, 03:55 PM
Here is the first draft of the scorecard. Let me know if anything needs changed.

captain plastic
02-20-2012, 05:16 PM
Wow James thanks. That really helps. Looks fine.
I will print some of those out.

02-20-2012, 09:02 PM
Check the distances and let me know if there is too much white space at the end when you cut them. I can adjust the size of the boxes a bit to use up more space. I got the distances from dgcoursereview from the yellow tees listing the longest distances. I am going to miss the temp holes this year, I like the island hole.

captain plastic
02-21-2012, 10:20 AM
I got your registration. I put you on the list. It will show up the next
time I do a pdga update.

02-21-2012, 11:00 AM
Hey Sammy, somehow I'm not on the list anymore. Justin Marquess #45589 Advanced. I paid and was on it, and now all of a sudden I've disappeared. Just wanted to give a head's up.

02-23-2012, 11:02 PM
Any reason why this happened?

captain plastic
02-23-2012, 11:56 PM
Thanks for the heads up. I will look into this. You certainly are paid
and on the list. I will correct this error on the next update.

Take care

Entries will be pouring in soon. Don't wait to register.
Once the 10 day weather forecast is in people will be making
their plans.

Pre registration only!

03-07-2012, 11:28 AM
Hey Sammy, I'm gonna have to back out. I forgot about the NCAA tournament game being that Saturday. Is there any way I can get my money back or will I just have to settle for the players pack?

captain plastic
03-07-2012, 01:45 PM
No problem. You can get your money back. I can mail you a check.
What is your address?
Take care

03-07-2012, 08:16 PM
Justin, that's weak. Record the game and go throw some discs!

03-07-2012, 09:31 PM
Record the game that I payed $80 to go see and it is most likely UK or actually go to the game. That's not a tough decision to go to the game in my book.

03-07-2012, 09:33 PM
Although I was looking forward to this tournament, don't get me wrong on this. I ordered the tickets about a year ago though and unfortunately the two fall on the same day.

03-07-2012, 09:50 PM
You didn't specify that you were going to a game only that there was a game. Enjoy the Bucket.

03-07-2012, 09:56 PM
I looked that over and you're right. my bad. All is clear now though. I considered for a brief second maybe showing up for the 1st round and then 999ing the second, but that wouldn't leave enough time to get to the game on time.

Also, I just realized that my current situation falls perfectly under the category of my signature below.

03-08-2012, 11:28 AM
i want to play in this but wont be able to commit until monday or tuesday, depending on work commitments. the online reg form says registration ends tomorrow, how will i be able to pre-reg provided my job doesnt send me away?

03-15-2012, 01:52 PM
is the bridge problem taken care of down there yet? Specifically i am trying to figure out how the traffic is these days crossing the bridge on I-65 heading south. Seems like there was a bridge closure the weekend of the CVO but I dont remember the circumstances....

03-15-2012, 02:16 PM
yes it is fixed and yeah that was bad cause it just went down right before CVO

03-15-2012, 02:35 PM
Thank goodness that bridge debacle is behind us, what a nightmare!

Alright basketball fans Cards and Cats are playing in the evening on Saturday! There is a reason
for the 9:00 am tee time. MARCH MADNESS!!!

Severe Weather details.
In the case of rain tournament central will move to the top of the park under the pavilion.
This is next to the playground and tennis courts.

In the case of lighting or severe storms during play. I will be playing but will have an air horn.
Listen for the air horn for suspension of play. Rain with no lighting will not suspend play. If I feel
like excessive high winds are a danger I will sound the air horn. Once the air horn has been
sounded leave your hole and take shelter. Play will resume once the lighting and storms have passed.

captain plastic
03-16-2012, 05:58 PM
27 spots available in the morning. First come first serve.
Enjoy your weekend.

Congrats to Paul Oman for setting a new course record with a smoking hot 45.
1070+ rated. That is how it's done folks. No 4's at CV on any hole during that round!!!!

Thanks to all the players who came out. Shout out to sponsors: Derby City Disc and the
Patoka Lake Crew! Shout out to Martin Young, Billy, Russ, Dutch, Damon, Woogs, Mark Wampler,
Dave Greenwell, and all the other people I forgot that helped get the course ready to go and or
helped with the tournament duties.
Thanks Adam Higdon for the artwork.
With out your help disc golf in Louisville would not be what it is. For this I thank you.

Wyatt Hardenburg
were the Vibram Qualifiers. You have two weeks to register.
Can you guys please PM me your email addresses so I can forward
them to Vibram.

Jason Woogs was the first alternate. Can you also send me your email
address. If the top two guys don't register in two weeks the spot is yours.
