Sounds great! We have some work ahead of us getting the course ready. I'll be availlable.

We better get busy! There is quite a bit of work to be done, but I'm sure we can accomplish it!

02-16-2011, 05:39 PM
Martin and I met with the superintendent of parks and Seviren's parents today to talk about the upcoming tournament and things went very well.

We talked about things like practice baskets, erosion control, trash cans and benches. And in the next couple weeks we hope to get the dirt filled in around the tee pads. Things are coming along nicely and the course is going to look fantastic come tournament time!

02-16-2011, 05:48 PM
Are we going to have a show of unity and all get matching tattoos of that wicked logo you created there?

02-16-2011, 08:33 PM
I'm in!

Job Wilson #41259 in Rec.

I can bring money to IQ on Sunday.

04-12-2011, 11:20 AM
Cool, I've got you down Job and I'll also be at the tourney Sunday. If anyone else is coming in for the tournament Sunday, this is a great opportunity to preregister for the tournament.

The PDGA site is having some difficulties so I can't update the list at this time. I'll get it current whenever they get their problem resolved.

04-12-2011, 11:25 AM
I'll try to get the money to you in the next couple of weeks to save that $5, but I won't be at leagues tonight to do it because my daughter has her first softball game of the season. (Unless the field's too muddy, then I'll be there!)

04-20-2011, 06:56 PM
For those on the fence about the tournament, the course continues to be improved. The parks department has been working hard.

The first work we noticed was quite a bit of the brush on #4 being cleared out. Much of the growth to the right edge of the fairway (along the mando side,) up to the strange little arched tree has been removed--the arch is still there, but there's now an opening to the right of it. They also moved all the dead limbs that were piled up behind the grouping of trees that hides the basket (the dead trees that had been there since that was the fairway for old #15.)

They have cut out an opening through the pine trees on #7 that will lead back to the new pin placement in the clearing, and I understand that sleeve could be poured soon.

Other work has been done, but those are the two major pieces. I hope we have a full field on the 30th.

04-21-2011, 10:57 AM
Is there not going to be a novice division?

04-21-2011, 02:10 PM
We can have a novice division if 4 or more people sign up for it, but no one has so far.

04-22-2011, 04:59 PM
You do have Roger Lawson & myself down correct? The ten day forecast is looking good for us so far it shows no rain and 70 that's perfect weather so I just wanted to confirm my spot

04-23-2011, 11:21 PM
if there is a novice division i might sign up, but if u have to pay five extra dollars if i pay day off though forget it.

04-24-2011, 09:34 AM
The tournament is this Saturday, April 30th. If we get 4 people we can have a novice division, otherwise you guys will be bumped up to rec.

Avoiding the $5 fee for paying the day of the tournament is easy. Just send the money via paypal to higdon.adam@gmail.com. No paypal account? No problem. You can still use your credit or debit card to send the money via paypal without an account. You can also pay me at Tuesday leagues at Seviren. Or if you get a check out in the mail to me tomorrow, it should arrive before the tournament. My mailing address is in the first post and it has to go out Monday.

04-24-2011, 11:30 AM
Adam put me down please 45044 rec. I'll pay asap

04-24-2011, 12:26 PM
Will everyone be playing the longs or will ams/women (and novice, if applicable,) be using the shorts?

04-25-2011, 09:17 AM
I've been thinking about this a lot. After talking to a few women it sounds like they'd much prefer to use some short pads since the course is so long. And because it's so long, I think it would be good to make the rec division play some shorts also to speed up play. So I'm thinking we'll use the same short pads we use for leagues.

Rec and women will play shorts on holes 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 15 & 17.

04-25-2011, 03:01 PM
Don't forget for the women you could have the option of the third pad on 15.

If I play open can I get a disc instead of a water bottle?
Glad you chose this instead of a t-shirt.

I just sent the payment to Adam via paypal. Can you let me know if you get it Adam? Thanks

04-25-2011, 04:44 PM
I just sent the payment to Adam via paypal. Can you let me know if you get it Adam? Thanks

Are you taking advantage of not being rated while you still can, Champ?

04-25-2011, 05:27 PM
Look at the stats for last time I played this course. 2nd to last. But to answer your question...yes. I don't think ill have a rating over 900 anyway when they do the update.

04-25-2011, 07:31 PM
Don't forget for the women you could have the option of the third pad on 15.

I see what you mean, but for ratings reasons you need a certain number of rated players to play the same layout. That's why rec and women will play the same layout.

If I play open can I get a disc instead of a water bottle?
Glad you chose this instead of a t-shirt.

The cost of the Yeti Pro Aviar is considerably more than the water bottle, but I'm sure we can work something out.

I just sent the payment to Adam via paypal. Can you let me know if you get it Adam? Thanks

Got it, thanks.

04-25-2011, 07:31 PM
Your be around 885 I think bro...If it would stop raining here then maybe I can get out to play and work on this rust...Good luck sat and when so disc you can sell me...lol

04-25-2011, 08:45 PM
That makes sense.

I'm sure you've already thought of this since you've usually thought of about everything, but should we have the tee pads marked with flags for those who aren't familiar with which holes are played from the longs and which are from the shorts? Maybe have green markers on the long we use and red on those where the shorts are played.

04-25-2011, 09:18 PM
That's a great idea and you give me too much credit. But in this case it's something Martin and I just talked about today. We've got flags for the short pads and to mark the drop zones by mando's.

We're also going to have a sheet for everyone when they check it. It will list all the OB, mando's and short pads that will be used.

04-25-2011, 10:32 PM
This friday only I am going to run a doubles league as a preview to the Seviren Lang Memorial. It will be @ 6 cost is 8 for everything. It will be best shot. So if you need to reach me my cell is Five 0 Two - 6 zero 8 - five 8 Three 3. Im sure i will be practicing somewhere on the course. I will be out there Thursday as well if that is a better day for anyone and I will be at Derby City Discs tomorrow both of those times are TBD.

04-26-2011, 09:44 AM
Registration is up to 40 people and we're capping the tournament at 90. Make sure you pay soon to reserve your spot and avoid the $5 fee for paying the day of the tournament.

You can pay via paypal.
Tonight I'll be at the course for leagues. If it gets rained out I'll still be there from at least 5:15-6:15 to take registration.
On Thursday, Judge will be at the course and you can register with him.
On Friday, Judge will be at the course around 4pm and you can register with him. He will also be running doubles at 6.

04-26-2011, 09:05 PM
I've got you both down. Brennan, to avoid the $5 fee for paying the day of the tournament you can pay James at Wednesday leagues, you can pay Judge who will be at Seviren Thursday and on Friday Judge will be at the course at 4pm and is running some doubles at 6pm. You can also pay online via paypal.

04-27-2011, 02:20 PM
Only 37 spots left! Register and pay soon if you plan on playing. You can pay James tonight at leagues at Iroquois.

The course drains well and the forecast says there shouldn't be any more rain after tonight, so the course should be looking pretty good on tournament day. Saturday is supposed to be partly cloudy with a high of 78.

is there gonna be a league at the Lang today?

04-28-2011, 04:06 PM
Leagues are at CV today and Seviren tomorrow.

You can pay for the tournament at both leagues.

Only 19 spots left so get 'em while you still can.

04-28-2011, 05:36 PM
Signs ins will be in shelter #3 at the back of the course, not in the barn when you first enter. If you haven't been to the course before, there's only one road that runs straight through the park and it dead ends there at the sign in shelter.

04-28-2011, 07:17 PM
If it's any more incentive to get in the tournament, ill be playing the #1 tag. Also, just curious, and no problem, why is sign in at shelter #3?

The top shelter will be great - bathrooms, free water, lots of parking, no creek to walk across, lots of warm-up space, and a scenic drive through the course

not to mention it is more centrally located so i don't have to walk a mile to the front of the park when i am done with my rounds

04-29-2011, 08:54 AM
I was considering driving to the parking lot nearest the hole on which I tee off to shorten that walk, but I'm kind of gifted in my laziness.

04-29-2011, 08:59 AM
Just a heads up for anyone coming to the tournament tomorrow (or playing at Seviren any other time this summer)---you may want to pack some Deep Woods Off (or something similar) in your bag because this course is notorious for ticks. Mosquitoes, too, but all the water is currently flowing, so they shouldn't be a problem.

captain plastic
04-29-2011, 11:20 AM
Looks like the tournament is getting full.
82 people

04-29-2011, 11:28 AM
Yup, only 8 spots left.

I believe Martin is going to get some Off for everyone to use to keep the ticks away.

04-29-2011, 02:45 PM
I had three ticks on my leg in a matter of minutes in the woods yesterday. Bringing Off is good advice.

04-29-2011, 02:50 PM
hope there is more than just 2 advanced masters..........saw a few hiding lol

04-29-2011, 04:57 PM
Little footbridges over the ditches on #4 and from #4 to #5 just went in today and they're nice. Steps from the back of the teepad on #2 that should eliminate the mud eroding down onto it, too. Somebody was working hard today. Was that the parks dept, or was that Martin? Either way, nice work.

04-29-2011, 06:37 PM
There are currently 8 spots left with a couple people on the list that might not make it. There's a good chance you can get in the day of the tournament if you want to show up early tomorrow.

04-29-2011, 07:46 PM
Just realized pre-registration was strongly recommended. I was planning on driving down to the tournament from Indianapolis tomorrow, but would hate to get there only to find out that I couldn't play. Any way I can still pre-register? I'll definitely be there if I know there's an open spot.

05-01-2011, 12:42 AM

05-01-2011, 08:16 AM
Brad Shick

05-01-2011, 08:48 AM
Good for him--got to play a round with him Friday. Great guy.

05-01-2011, 11:09 AM
Brad and Tyler tied for first, one hole playoff with Brad with the drop in 3 on hole 1

First round Tyler tied the course record with a 51

Second round Brad set a new record with a 50

05-01-2011, 11:47 AM
I thought Tyler would shoot well on that course. It tends toward big arms on some of the par 4s. I bet some of TH's shots on the longer holes were things to be seen. Wish I could have seen them!

It sounds like it was quite the battle out there. Good to hear.

When do we find out about points for the series?

05-02-2011, 01:39 PM
I have posted the Series Standings on the Ace Eagle board.

05-02-2011, 08:24 PM
Don't understand points at all 3rd in advanced masters 42 points playing from longs 140 total score
2nd to last in Rec received 48 points and shot 8 strokes more from shorts???

05-02-2011, 10:13 PM
Points system:

First I will show a hypothetical score card and then explain how it is translated into points.

Name – Score – Rank Points – MOV Points – Total Points

Player A – 108 – 70 – 8 – 78

Player B – 110 – 60 – 6 – 66

Player C – 112 – 50 – 4 – 54

Player D – 114 – 40 – 2 – 42

Player E – 116 – 30 – 0 – 30

Player F – 999 – 0 – 0 – 0

Rank Points: Any player who starts and finishes the current tournament receives 30 points. Then, for each position better they receive 10 additional points. Player A finishes 4 places higher than Player E (999 excluded). Thus, he gets participation 30 points + 40 points for being 4 positions higher.

MOV (Margin-of-Victory) Points: Players receive one point for each stroke they are better than the last placed player (999 excluded). So, Player A shoots 8 strokes better than Player E. Thus, he receives 8 MOV points.

Any player who 999’s gets no points. Quitters never win!

05-03-2011, 07:48 AM
So you need to hope you do well AND somebody in your division just completely sucks out loud, but not so badly that he/she gives up.

05-03-2011, 02:41 PM
Marcus, nah, if they give up then they get no points. You want them to give up. That's guaranteed 30 points that you will better them.

05-03-2011, 02:50 PM
Don't understand points at all 3rd in advanced masters 42 points playing from longs 140 total score
2nd to last in Rec received 48 points and shot 8 strokes more from shorts???

It's an increasing scale based on the number of players in a division for any given tournament. It doesn't take into account what pads you play or what division you're in versus another division. This is why there are less points in Advanced Masters. There were less players in Advanced Masters.

05-03-2011, 03:20 PM
Will there be winners in each division, or is the points thing a collective?

05-03-2011, 03:23 PM
Will there be winners in each division, or is the points thing a collective?

Each division.

What if we started in rec and play the others intermediate?

Then we congratulate you on moving up and you've got some catching up to do :)

05-03-2011, 06:43 PM
dang, i really screwed myself on this one. lol. i shouldn't have shot all those 900+ rated rounds.

05-03-2011, 10:00 PM
I told you to play the longs

05-04-2011, 10:51 AM
Yes you did, but I needed that confidence boost.

05-04-2011, 06:39 PM
Was there any reply to whether or not the rounds from this tourney will be included in this coming ratings update?

05-04-2011, 07:06 PM
Justin, any round before May 3 will be in the next update. So, yes.

05-04-2011, 07:32 PM
Thanks for letting me know about that Job. The PDGA hasn't replied to my email.

05-10-2011, 03:47 PM
I think it was $300.00 to Open and $300.00 to Masters.
Don't know that 100% but that is what I figured would
