Another clinic with smaller groups so individuals can get more hands on assistance from pros.
XC Fundraiser tournament where you can come anytime during that day, play a round and have the option for it to count towards your rating.
Free PDGA membership give away.
Picnic.

This is a list of the things we have talked about doing and I got thinking, we could do all these things in one day. How cool would it be to go to an XC tier to play a round, eat and socialize with some other golfers, win a PDGA membership, and then go spend some time with a local pro for some pointers.

Does this sound like a good idea? Can you think of anything else we could do or is that enough packed into one day?

So your saying with the XC that you could show up any time you want, play a round, and it may or may not (player's decision) go towards your PDGA rating? If so that sounds great to me,

you could have some kind of putting contest. Dollar or so to play. Play as many times as you want and winner gets half the pot and the other half goes to the CVO...just a thought

how about july 18th or July 4th???

XC-tier - putting - clinic - cookout - and more

speaking about giving away a PDGA membership - we should look into maybe giving a free LDGC tourney entry as well - or at least the option between the two

poorboy discs ran an X-C tier at the bowling green ams - it was like $20 and works on rolling start times and you get as pdga rated rd

you could then pay another $5-$10 to play again and boost your rating - or even quit the round and try again to get a rating -

Please do not host it on the holiday. There are some of us are not able to join in on these events, due to work schedules and/or family events. I think the 18th would be the best date for something like that.

I was going to post this morning about this as well. I don't think the 4th is a good day because of that.

I agree.

July 18th wouldn't be bad but I most likely wouldn't be able to help since I'm running the B-burg Open on the 17th and the Lebanon Open on the following weekend. Julie would kill me if I stacked another event in there. That's not to say that YOU guys can't run it though. ;)

Adam suggested we do that at this event. This would be an opportunity to get more people to join the LDGC and then draw for a free PDGA membership at the end of the day.

This is an all day outside event and July is usually a pretty hot month. Would it be too close to the CVO if we tried to do it August 15th or 29th?

Maybe we should go ahead and do the drawing sooner as opposed to later. I could do the drawing at Thursday leagues (yeah, I'm trying to boost attendance). Of course there are probably more LDGC members at Wednesday leagues so James could do it there if he wanted. Just a thought.

I think it's only going to be as hot or hotter in August as it would be in July. August is typically KY's hottest month. Plus, if we do one in July we could turn around and do another in August if the intrest permitts.

True.

I'm going to be gone for 3 weeks in July so I probably won't be able to help if we do one then, but that certainly shouldn't stop it from happening.

Hate to break it to you Jeremy, but July is the hottest month on average. Average high of 88 and low of 70, as opposed to 86 and 68 in August. lol

How about doing the fundraiser tournament, clinic and picnic on Sunday August 15th?

Or is there a better day for it?

Why not on a Saturday? Seems like they're always on Sunday...

I don't see why not. How about Saturday August 14th then?

I'm not partial to one date over another, I just didn't want this idea to fizzle out that's all.

I support this thread. I will not be doing
anything in August except working.

Any ol' how. This sounds like a great idea
and a great way to put the faces with the names.

Is this still in the works for Aug 14? Haven't heard anything about it in a while. Have some friends from Nashville that are interested, but they need to be making plans soon if they're going to come.
