View Full Version : Storm Damage

The course suffered some EXTREME damage. The gates are closed but I plan to walk in tomorrow with a camera to get some pics. Holes #15 and #16 looked treeless from 933. I'll update you tomorrow with some pictures.

thats terrible - nasty weather - radcliff, muldraugh, and otter get torn up, do you know?
no trees would make 15 a little easier to weave through - sucks though -

seen some vid on the news looked like the ball park is bad and trees down on the box car

I'm going out today during lunch to take some pictures. I'm a bit heart broken just after what I saw yesterday. I'm trying hard to remain optimistic until I check out the rest of the course but just the two holes I could see from the road are completely destroyed and extremly simplified.

My optimism has shifted from “it’ll be okay” to “it will be rebuilt." The course is completely cleared out . I would say that 60% or more of the trees that guarded the holes are now on the ground. I’ll post the pics tonight.

Is that just on 15/16 or through out the whole course?

The ENTIRE course! It looks like a bull dozer went through the park.
Hole #3 wide open air shot now!
Hole #4 wide open!
Hole #6 wide open!
Hole #11 lost a considerable amount of trees!
Hole #13 wide open!
Hole #14 lost a few trees!
Hole #15 wide open!
Hole #16 wide open!
Hole #17 wide open!
Hole #18 wide open!

sorry to hear that man.... if you arrange some kind of work day let me know, I'll drive down to help out, I love that course...
we also suffered some serious damage at Patoka Lake, so I know how your feeling...

At this point the park has dozers in there pushing out all the trees. If a course remains at the park we'll have to give it a COMPLETE redesign.

What about hole #1 is it still a roller shot???

Here's a link to the photos.

Absolutely devastating! That gorgeous course is destroyed! Thanks for the pics Jeremy, but it just breaks my heart. Thank the Good Lord no one was killed in B-Burg, God knows they've suffered enough over the years with the weather.

Ironic that the worst mid round weather I've ever got caught in was with my son and wife, on teepad #4 on this course. I had to run back to the car, the weekend before L M memorial 07 in quarter inch hail.

Everyone will miss the course, but a redesign could be nice. We can reclaim some of the land they took & never used. There were some great holes back there! Some of the tees probable still exist?

It's Gone!! Brandy is absolutely Gone! I remember the course before the water company was put in and thought it was terrible then to rearrange the course, but now we don't even have a course to rearrange. :( :( :x :( :x :( :x :( :x :( :x :( :x :( :x

Wow. Mother nature is a powerful force.
Glad no one was hurt.

I read this morning that in fact there was a tornado that came through Meade Olin(Courier Journal-Feb. 7). They mentioned the building in your pics. I heard about the train on the news on Feb. 6. So you were right Jeremy, stupid meteorologist !!!! When we talked last night I would have never imagined this much distruction.
At least whomever poured the teepads and put the baskets in made them to withstand a tornado. That is all that seems to have made it.
02-08-2008, 10:09 AM
Yeah...each basket has about 250 pounds of concrete.
02-08-2008, 02:28 PM
how many times has Meade-Olin been redesigned?
02-08-2008, 02:51 PM
Only once. This will be the second. We had been planning on putting in some alternate pin placements in the near future. I have faith it will still be a SWEET course when it's all said and done. :D

This is a good opportunity to put more anhyzer shots in. Even though it had lots of technical shots and was my favorite course by far ,too many hyzers was the courses downfall. Hole #1 & #10 need to be salvaged, they made
02-12-2008, 01:05 PM
Fortunately #1 and #10 were the least affected holes.

I think there are still some of the old tee pads around from the old designed. maybe we can use them in the next design

The parks department is starting to clean up the storm damage on the disc golf course today. :bravo: It may take a few weeks for them to clear things out. This is NOTHING that we can help with. Once they've cleared the debris and re-opened the park we'll start working on a new design for the holes that need it the most.
03-13-2008, 12:28 PM
best of luck on that, it has too be a wet/muddy mess.. especially with all of the heavy machinery...

Doesn’t matter. Every course is a work in progress. Mother nature just happened to step in. We will overcome. Keep me posted on work details. I am available.
