What do you guys think is the area's toughest hole (relative to par)?

Getting a three on #10 at Meade/O is tough. It also has more options than most holes.

#18 at CV has to be up there but it has a little more fairway to work with than #10 at Meade/O.

I'm going to stick with #10 at Meade/Olin. That is...if #10 at Meade/Olin is a par three and #18 at CV is a par four.

if playing with a par 3 mindset - 3 and 8 at CV can both be incredibly difficult to par if the drive fails to find the fairway

hole 10 at meade/olin - thats a tough 3

hole 9 at cv can be brutal with the mando right/woods on left - ditch between you and the basket and what the wind might do next? course as long as you stay in bounds and woods free a 3 should be gotten everytime

Is this between IQ and CV?

18 at cv is an easy par for a LOT of people. its a par 5
is 10 at meade olin really a par 3? can people really reach it on the drive?

I'm having trouble deciding.... Mostly because of the actual PAR on the hole. If you can't reach it on your drive is it still a par 3? I'm trying to think about difficult holes and what the open players average in a tournament relative to par. I would think that on hole 9 at CV, the average score would be over 3.0 ... maybe 3.2??

The thought that everything is a par 3 is unrealistic

Yeah, I don't know. I've ALWAYS played it as a three. VERY rarly do I EVER see a disc go pin high. If it's a par four...it's an easy four.

That makes me think though. If #10 at Meade/Olin and #3 and number #8 at CV are fours and #18 at CV is a five... I've had Eagles on all those holes. It's wierd to think Eagle in disc golf.

all holes are eagleable. you can ace holes. hole 12 at usdgc gets a few eagles every year. eagles are part of the game of golf, which included disc golf. maybe thats why people say par is however many throws it takes to reach the pin + 2
. (based on the play of a low-mid cashing pro).

I always thought #17 and #4 in the longs at freeman was pretty tough and fun but I have to agree with Jeremy, # 10 at Brandenburg is probably the toughest par three hole.

i agree that IF hole 10 at bburg was a par 3, that it would be the toughest. BUT just because we all PLAY it as a 3 doesnt make it a par 3. I play CV all par 3's , just for scoring simplicity, but we all know that 18 is not a par 3 there.
Guess we're back to the "what is par?" discussion. Can you reach it on the drive? if not its not a par 3. Thats the way all the touring pros take it. We can call everything a par 10 and get an ego boost if we want.

I find it easier to get a three on #10 at B-burg than it is to get a four on #18 at Vettiner. If you can't throw a tee shot from the pro pads pretty far up the hill, then the angle is tough to get into position to get a four at CV. Plus, the wind is a factor on many occasions on #18 at CV and it rarely is on #10 at B-burg. Just my 2 cents.

18 at cv is a par 5

i like the the idea of par 10  so i duced #3 and #16(short pin placement)@ cv are those eagles? what about #8?

PDGA#26039

yes those are eagles

so figuring out what the average score would be on the hole is the first priority. Whatever hole adds the most strokes on your score over whatever the average score of the hole might be - would be the toughest hole.

i'm still leaning towards hole 9 and 16 at CV as being the toughest holes on the course - both average 3+ strokes already, and if you aren't gonna get a 3 or 4, your disc probably has ended up in a variety of rotten places along the way and your strokes are adding up - hole 9 has mandos and numerous ob's, lots of wind w/changing elevation, hole 16 upshot through the narrows before a drive that has to get to a pin that is nearly surrounded by woods - easy holes to pick up strokes -

i'm a big fan of hole 9 right now though since i have parked my teebird under the basket the last three times i have played the hole - now that i have written this i'm sure the mando tree will get back in the way

Hole #9 @ Anderson/Dean in 3 is quite an accomplishment :!:

Drive Long, Putt Short & Leave A Good-Looking Scorecard 8-)

I'm not certain of the hole number, 17 maybe, at the Fun Farm. It's the last or next to the last wooded hole before coming back out to the open field. At the tee pad, the fence is on your right ad it's a slightly uphill shot down a curvy path. That hole gets me every time.

I'm going to have to say hole 16 at cv for me. Since I'm a lefty, both my drive and upshot require a delicate turnover with a stingray. Very much a finesse shot. For me to get a three, I have to throw two perfect shots and still have a putt. I love the hole though!

jeremy
02-07-2008, 11:20 AM
I hear ya Billy. I'm a righty and it still requires two perfect shots.

I only three that one 50% of the time or LESS.

yeah 16 is no doubt a tough par 4 (for me). I'd say it's average is 4 point something, making it a tough hole relative to par. Jeremy, getting a 3 on that hole half the time is quite a feat. any hole you can birdie half the time is great throwing.

I don't get to meade olin much, but hole 11 gets me most of the time. Not the toughest by far. But its shooting through the "V" that gets in my head.

And what about 13 at CV. You've got options, but what do you do?

I only play there about 10 times per year though. If I played it more often it would likely be less.

yeah, I forgot it's actually a par 4. I'd say I par it 60% of the time and birdie it 10%

I would add #1 at Jim Ashton's as one of the more difficult duece holes. lots of OB, a mando and just plain tough to get close.

I don't think hole # 18 at CV is a par 5, it is relatively easy to get a four and difficult to get a 3 but not hard to get a 5 and can be reached on the second drive by most.

Hole one at Jim Ashton's is the hardest hole relative to par.

Hole 17 at IQ is a tough par 3. I have see a lot of people reach it.

BY MOST???

who are you playing with ? I need to get into that group and learn something.

I'd say more like, not by most. Maybe 5% of the people can reach 18 in 2, putting for a 3. I can count on one hand how many putts (inside 30') I've had for 3 on that hole and I play there A LOT, and am not a short arm.

If you can't reach it in 2 its not a par 4.

iroquoisman24
02-08-2008, 07:49 PM
Well maybe your right about most people not reaching it in 2 but it's still not a par 5, It is possible to get there in 2. I'm happy if I get a four, that should be par. Par should be an acheivement. In ball golf it usually is. I think disc golf should par should be more like putt putt par having par 2's. It should be based on pro's ability not novice players.

02-08-2008, 07:58 PM
I agree with you, in that, I am also happy when I get a 4 on that hole. I'm so happy that I feel like I birdied it. Maybe it's a par 4.5 :)
